Levamisole Hydrochloride

This product is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic and immunomodulator of the imidazothiazol class. It can induce spasms and paralysis in the nematodes, leading to their excretion in feces, and can also promote T-cell differentiation to enhance the body’s cellular immunity. It is mainly used for the treatment of gastrointestinal and lung nematodes in pigs, cattle, sheep, and poultry. Low-dose intermittent use can also act as an immune enhancer.

Appearance: White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste; extremely soluble in water (>200mg/mL), readily soluble in ethanol and methanol, almost insoluble in chloroform and ether; aqueous solution pH≈4～6, stable.

Pharmacological Action: Imidazothiazole broad-spectrum anthelmintic + immunomodulator. ① Anthelmintic: Binds to myosin/nicotinic ACh receptors in the worm → sustained depolarization → worm spasms and paralysis (nicotinic effect) → expelled with intestinal peristalsis; highly effective against adult worms, partially effective against migrating larvae. ②Immune Regulation: Promotes T lymphocyte differentiation and proliferation, enhances macrophage phagocytic function and IL-2 and IFN-γ secretion → improves cellular immunity (low-dose intermittent use).

Indications: Gastrointestinal nematodes in pigs/cattle/sheep/poultry (Haemaphysalis, Osteria, Trichophyton, Ascaris suis, Orophytum esophagitis, etc.), lungworms (Dictamnus); low-dose intermittent use as an immune enhancer (for pigs/poultry in some regions).
