Diclazuril

Diclazuril is a triazine-based, highly effective anticoccidial drug that inhibits the life cycle of coccidia by blocking the development of their schizonts. It is primarily used for the prevention of coccidiosis in chickens, ducks, turkeys, and rabbits. It is effective against various types of Eimeria, including Eimeria tenella, Eimeria spp., and Eimeria virulence, and does not affect the body’s immune response.

Q1: What is the basic information?

A1: CAS No. 101831-37-2, Molecular Formula: C₁₇H₉Cl₃N₄O₂. Appearance: Off-white or pale yellow crystalline powder, almost odorless. Practically insoluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in DMF, DMSO, and THF. Requires premixing in extremely small amounts.

Q2: What is its pharmacological action?

A2: Highly effective, low-toxicity triazine anticoccidial. Acts mainly on second-generation schizonts, zygotic stage, and inhibits oocyst sporulation → blocks lifecycle. Effective against Eimeria tenella, E. burmannii, E. toxicaria, E. broodii, E. giantiformis, E. variegatain chickens, and E. variegatain ducks/turkeys/rabbits. Does not affect host immunity to coccidiosis.

Q3: What are its indications?

A3: Prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in chickens/ducks/turkeys/rabbits—mainly preventive, reducing bloody stools, mortality, and oocyst expulsion. Highly effective against E. tenella, Eimeria spp.(anterior small intestine), E. toxicaria(middle small intestine), E. brucellosis, E. giant. Prevention at 1 mg/kg feed (1 g/ton) controls cecal coccidiosis and mortality, near-zero oocyst excretion. Can be mixed in broiler feed throughout or by stage. Not for laying hens. Prone to cross-resistance with toltrazuril → rotate medication.

Q4: What are the storage requirements?

A4: Sealed container, cool and dry warehouse. Keep away from oxidizers.
